Hon'ble Dr. Justice Ravi Ranjan (born December 20, 1960) is a retired Indian jurist who served as the 13th Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court. A former Patna High Court judge and acting Chief Justice, he holds a Ph.D. in Geology and practiced law from 1990, specializing in constitutional and civil matters before his elevation to the bench. He has done LL.B. from Patna Law College, Patna University in 1989. He was awarded a Ph.D. in Science (Geology). He served as Additional Standing Counsel (1997) and Senior Standing Counsel for the Union of India, later re-designated as Assistant Solicitor General of India.

Born in 1904, he obtained his Master of Arts (M.A.) from Patna University in 1931 and his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) in 1933, before enrolling as an advocate in 1934. After graduating in law, he practised before the High Court of Judicature at Patna and joined the Bihar Judicial Service in 1955. He rose to serve as District & Sessions Judge, Motihari, and later as Vigilance Officer and Registrar of the High Court of Judicature at Patna, where he introduced significant judicial administrative reforms. From 1983 to 1990, he served as Presiding Officer of the Central Government Industrial Tribunal, Dhanbad, earning respect for his fairness, integrity, and administrative acumen. Deputy Director, Directorate of Prosecution, Government of Bihar Dr. Ravi Kant Deo is a distinguished legal professional, academician, and public servant whose career reflects an exceptional commitment to criminal justice administration, legal education, and public service.
