International Women’s Day Celebration, 2024.

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Patna Law College (PLC) organised a programme to commemorate and celebrate International Women’s Day, 2024 on 11.03.2024 at 10:00 am at the Seminar Hall, Shatabdi Bhawan. The Chief Guest; Special Guest; Guests of Honour and Distinguished Guests of the function included Prof. (Dr.) K.C Sinha, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Patna University, Patna; Prof. (Dr.) Rekha Kumari, Director Higher Education, Department of Education, Govt. of Bihar; Dr. Shalini, Assistant Regional Director, IGNOU and Dr. Ranjana Kumar, Director, Bright Sight Eye Hospital; and Prof. (Dr.) Khagendra Kumar, Registrar, Patna University; Prof. (Dr.) Anil Kumar, Dean of Students Welfare, Patna University; and Prof.(Dr. ) Shefali Roy, Proctor, Patna University respectively. The function commenced with the lighting of the official lamp and felicitation of the dignitaries present on the dias. Thereafter, Prof. (Dr.) Vani Bhushan, Principal, Patna Law College, P.U. welcomed our esteemed guests.

Prof. (Dr.) Shefali Roy reiterated that commemoration of International Women’s Day is a foreign idea and the best way by which we can promote the interest of the women is by eliminating the ‘proxy rule’ and giving them real powers. Prof. (Dr.) Khagendra Kumar was of the view that we cannot imagine women empowerment without giving due regard to their interests. He further emphasised that the women in the labour class get more opportunities in decision making in family affairs than other classes. Prof. (Dr.) Anil Kumar held that there is onus on every family to provide equal opportunities to the girls and boys to excel in their personal and professional lives respectively. Dr. Shalini urged that the discrimination on the basis of gender must be eliminated in order to ensure all-round development of our nation. Dr. Ranjana Kumar stressed upon the need to ‘walk the talk’ when it comes to the improvement of the status of women. Prof. (Dr.) Rekha Kumari stated that the present government under the dynamic leadership of our hon’ble Chief Minister has taken a number of initiatives to promote women empowerment, chief among them being granting 50% reservation in panchayats resulting in women participation in decision-making, providing scholarship amounting 50,000/- to girl students resulting in more enrollment in higher education. Prof. (Dr.) K. C. Sinha stressed upon the need to educate the girls as it can promote the growth of the entire society. He proudly claimed that the girl students in our university are regularly doing well in their studies and as a result securing more number of gold medals than their counterparts in all disciplines. The programme, which was hosted by Mrs. Ruchi Singh, concluded with the vote of thanks which was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Y. Verma, Dean, Faculty of Law.
